Interdisciplinary Knowledge Network
The centrepiece of MLKN.lab — mapping 11 disciplines simultaneously, with explicit major and minor interdisciplinary bridges, plus three analytical layers: Disciplines, Epistemic Roles, and Levels of Analysis.
Three Analytical Layers
Academic standards · Epistemic categories · Analysis levels
Disciplines
11 academic fields mapped as distinct clusters, with intra-disciplinary concept networks and inter-disciplinary bridges highlighted by strength (major / minor).
Epistemic Roles
Concepts are classified by their epistemic function: Foundational, Theoretical, Methodological, Empirical, Applied, or Normative — following academic taxonomy standards.
Levels of Analysis
Concepts are located across four scales of analysis: Molecular / Neural, Individual, Social / Cultural, and System / Global — based on scientific and social-science standards.

About MLKN.lab
MLKN.lab (MultiLayer Knowledge Network Ideas Laboratory) is an open-source project exploring the conceptual architecture of academic disciplines through interactive force-directed network graphs inspired by the Gephi software methodology.
Each map represents concepts as nodes (sized by centrality) and connections as weighted edges. Disciplines are organized into thematic clusters, and the interdisciplinary map reveals structural bridges between fields using academic taxonomy standards.
